Act now to save Bangalore from bird flue

Asia
is ripe for another round of the dreaded bird flue. And Bangalore is a ripe candidate.

Every day, Bangalore consumes tens of tons of chicken. Most of these chicken are bred in appalling conditions.

Bangalore the garden city is a favorite stop-over for migratory birds. Much more than most major cities in Asia.

In Bangalore, free range chicken and Broiler chicken often share the same cages. And free range chicken inevitably come into contact with migratory birds.

Act now, to save Bangalore.

Saturday in Sunrise City

It's Saturday, the roads are less crouded, and my usual 25 k.m. drive in the morning takes only 25 minutes, instead of the usual 1 hour or more...

For us global citizens who work in outsourcing, it's...well, just another day. The newspapers tell me that the state government is in crisis. An inside article waxes eloquent about housemaids who live on as little as Rs.200 (about $4) a month.
